As a social and civic organization in Reading, Newcomers and Neighbors contributes to the local community in many ways throughout the year. Through efforts like the toy drive, upkeep of the landscaped island across from Market Basket, regular donations to the food pantry, or our recent disbursement of shoes to the Soles4Souls organization (to name just a few!), we consistently strive to better our community. As active members of Newcomers & Neighbors, we can all be proud of some recent donations we have made to our town. For several years now, proceeds from the Children’s Concert have gone to purchase a family pass to the Museum of Science (www.mos.org) for the Reading Public Library. This is something that everyone in town can use throughout the course of the year to receive discounted entrance to one of Boston’s premiere museums. This year, not only has the group also purchased a season’s pass to Davis’ Farmland in Sterling (www.davisfarmland.com), but we made contributions in the name of Newcomers & Neighbors to the Reading Technology Fund, and the Washington Park renovation project. It is because of your willingness as members to participate in and promote our activities and efforts that contributions such as these can be made to our local community. We hope that in the months ahead, you all have a chance to use one or both of the passes we have donated to the town library (http://www.readingpl.org/services/ Thanks! |
